Last week Marshall West, one of our most promising young men, departed this life. He had been suffering with typhoid fever for some time. He was attacked by pneumonia of the lungs. His friends and the attending physician thought he was getting better when he was seized by a violent attack of coughing which ended his life. He was honest, of industrious, frugal habits and a gentleman in every sense of the word. He was to have been married at Christmas, but fate willed otherwise, - "death loves a shining mark."
[he was 21]
