Erskine E. Holbert, 89, died Oct. 5, 1993.
Born in Hendersonville, N.C., he lived in the Akron area 69 years. He was retired from Firestone Tire & Rubber Co. with 40 years' service. He had been a founding member of U.R.W. Local 7 and was a member of the Akron Baptist Temple, having laid brick on the original church building.
Preceded in death by wife of 59 years, Georgia (DeMoss), he is survived by sons and daughters-in-law, Edward and Beatrice of Cuyahoga Falls, Norman and Clara of Akron; daughter and son-in-law, Janet and Jan Hemminger of Louisville, Ohio; 10 grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.
Friends may call from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Friday, Oct. 8, 1993, at the Schlup-Pucak Funeral Chapel, Ken-more Boulevard at Eighth Street, where funeral service will be Saturday, 10 a.m., with Rev. Howard Powell officiating. Interment at Greenlawn Memorial Park. (Schlup-Pucak, Inc., 745-3131.)
