On the morning of the 20th of April,1898, at six o'clock, death entered the quiet home of R.R. and Sarah J. Stargel and removed from their fond embrace one of their precious children, Tintie M. Stargel, aged fourteen, ten months and ten days. She was sick only four days, and while her suffering was severe in the extreme, she bore her affliction with much patience and christian zeal. Tintie was a remarkably pleasant and effectionate child, industrious and careful. She was usually the first to rise in the morning and the last of the family to retire at night. She possessed an unusually good intellect, learned books at school very rapidly. She was a favorite at home, in the family, at school, among the school mates and at church; among the young christians. She exhibited many qualities that characterize people much older than herself, especially in the care for and protection of little children. She semed to have a quick and easy way of fixing their affection. In her death we feel that the family has been robbed of one of its brightest jewels, and the church of one of her most pious young memebers. Yet we bow in submission to the will of Him who doeth all things well. The removal of a sweet voice, a smiling face and effectionate hand brings sorrow that none but our Heavenly Father can remove.
With a conversation which she had with one of the sisters some time since it would seem that Tintie was apprised of the fact that she would not live long. In arranging a cup of flowers she said to her sister, " I want you to sit this at my grave when I die." The cup of flowers sit at the lonely grave, while her happy spirit rests in the home of Him who said, " Suffer little children to come unto me, for of such is the kingdom of Heaven." C.W. Stargel
