She is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. Gerard J. Sposato of Mansfield, Ohio; her son, Lt. Col. Louis P. Sposato Jr. USMC (retired) of Westerly; her grandchildren, Erin, Amanda, Ryan, Rachel, Elysia, Elizabeth and William; and her brother, Adam Gacioch.
She was also predeceased by her brothers and sisters, Mary, Sophie, Catherine, Helen, Chet and Steve.
Mrs. Sposato was born in Hope Valley on June 27, 1925, the daughter of the late Szczepan and Antonia (Piascik) Gacioch.
Carol was a "Rosie the Riveter" during World War II, which helped to produce aircraft for the war effort. She was the owner/operator of Carol's Beauty Salon in Charlestown for more than 20 years. Carol was an avid and skilled golfer and a rabid Boston Red Sox fan. She was a devoted grandmother and a communicant at Immaculate Conception Church.
A Mass of Christian Burial will take place on Thursday, April 10, at 10 a.m. at Immaculate Conception Church, 111 High St., Westerly. There will be no procession from the funeral home. Burial will take place at St. Sebastian Cemetery, Westerly. Calling hours will take place at Rushlow-Iacoi Funeral Home, 64 Friendship St., Westerly on Wednesday from 4 to 7 p.m.
