NEWPORT: Ralph H. Ehrhart, 96, passed away Sunday, November 23, 2014 at his home in Wila. He was born July 1, 1918 in Oliver Township, Perry County to Solomon and Pearl (Acker) Ehrhart. He was retired from Penn DOT and had worked for Toomey's Mill in Wila and the Pa. Railroad. He was a member of the former St. Samuel's Lutheran Church and was a lifetime member of the Newport Social Order of Owls. He enjoyed flying planes, hunting, gardening, attending and watching sports at Newport School, Penn State and Shippensburg University- especially football and wrestling and having friends visit him. Ralph is survived by his wife Dorothy (Wright) Ehrhart; sons, David R. Ehrhart (Debra) of Mechanicsburg and Dennis R. Ehrhart of Locust Grove, VA.; step daughter, Marcia A. Frey of Alisa Viejo, CA; step daughter in law, Jeanne B. Frey of Colorado Springs, CO.; grandchildren, Dana and Michael Ehrhart, Lt. Com Jonas Frey, Chesen, Mickhil, Loren, Nehemiah, Gabrielle, Kaylyn, Osanna and Christina Frey and 9 great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by stepson, Larry W. Frey and brothers, Lee and Don Ehrhart.
Services will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests contributions to the Newport Ambulance League, 50 South Third Street, Newport, Pa. 17074.
