Nancy P. Morrow was the sixth of eight children of John and Sarah "Sally" (Horton) Morrow of Wyalusing, Bradford County, Pennsylvania. Her father John had come over from County Monaghan, Ireland in 1811. They followed farming and raised cattle at Quicks Bend. Nancy was born in 1834 and was named after her grandmother Nancy Gamble. In 1867 she married John G. Brown, a Civil War veteran who had risen through the enlisted ranks to become a Captain. Over the next few years they had three children, Rachel, Paul and Nancy. Sadly, Nancy P. died, probably when birthing daughter Nancy in April 1874. She was buried in Terrytown Cemetery.
