How well I remember those evening walks down Moody Street, stopping at this store and that or halting to exchange a word with an old friend. I know how proud I was to be introduced as 'My nephew from California' or 'Alice's boy.' And then we would come home laden with bundles — the best there was in the market and we didn't often pass by 'the last place' without going in for a drink."
