Jacob D. Madeira, who attained his 75th birthday anniversary in October, died of dropsy and heart disease at 7 p.m. Tuesday, at his home, 345 McKnight street. Although he had been ailing six weeks, he was confined to bed only since last Saturday.
Born in Lower Heidelberg township, Mr. Madeira resided in that locality until 20 years ago, when he removed to this city. His parents were John and Hannah (Reiff) Madeira. Deceased lived in retirement six years, and prior to that time was employed by the American Express Co. He was member of Bern Reformed Church and the Odd Fellows of Bernville. His wife, Emma (Obold) Madeira, died 28 years ago. He was the last of his generation.
Surviving are daughter, Lizzie widow of Charles T. Dietrich, this
city, and six grandchildren.
