Joe Vickers, age 74, of Carterville, Mo. passed away on September 23, 2007 at his home following a lengthy illness.

Joe was born on November 5, 1932 in Noel, Mo. to the late Elmer Vickers and Bertie Beach Vickers. He had worked as a carpenter for Carl Brandon Construction before retiring. He was an avid St. Louis Cardinals fan.

Joe married Loretta Pequignot on February 23, 1970 in Carl Junction, Mo. She survives.

Additional survivors include two sons, Mike Vickers and his wife Jean, of Webb City, Mo. and Tony Vickers and his wife Britni, of Webb City; five daughters, Leona Brittle, of Webb City, Beverly Hallam and her husband Henry, of Grove, Ok, Beth Duggar and her husband Les, of Webb City, Tammy Jo Lynch and her husband Steve, of Fairland, Ok., and Melissa Hyche and her husband Chris, of Lawrenceburg, Tn.; one brother, Bob Vickers, of Pineville, Mo.; seventeen grandchildren and eight great grandchildren.

Funeral services will be at 10:00 a.m. Thursday at the Mason-Woodard Chapel. Interment will be in Webb City Cemetery. Those gentlemen serving as pallbearers will be Mike Vickers, Tony Vickers, Bubba Hyche, Chris Crites, Jerry Wilson and Mike Gunn. The family will receive friends from 6-7 p.m. Wednesday at the mortuary. Arrangements have been entrusted to Mason-Woodard Mortuary.
