Obituary- Maurice 'Bud' Moore, Sr, Elwood, died Wednesday, January 9, 1980, in Jackson County Public Hospital in Maquoketa, Iowa. The funeral will be 1:30 pm Saturday in Bethlehem Lutheran Church, Lost Nation, with the Rev Paul Johnson officiating. Burial will be in Elwood Cemetery. Visitation will be 2 to 9pm Friday at Carson Funeral Home, Maquoketa.
He was born October 20, 1901, in Flora, Indiana, to Jesse and Effie Ridgell Moore. He married Hilda Weede February 20, 1926, in Maquoketa. He worked for the county as a road maintainer until retirement. He was a member of Bethlehem Lutheran Church.
Survivors include two daughters, Mrs. Alan (Charleen) Hoffman, Preston, and Mrs. James (Mildred) Whitt of Dubuque; two sons, Maurice, Jr. of El Paso, TX, and James of Ottumwa; seventeen grandchildren; thirteen great-grandchildren; and a sister, Mrs. Myrtle Nolan of Turtle Lake, Wisconsin. He was preceded in death by his wife, a sister and three brothers.
