He was born in Danville, Pa. the son of L. Ward and Kathryn Lichtel of Shamokin Pa.
He was a graduate of Bloomsburg University where he is a member of their sports Hall of Fame.
Since 1968, he was a teacher and head football coach for Mechanicsburg High School where he reached and inspired countless lives.
In addition to his parents, he is survived by his wife, Beverly Lichtel; 2 sons, Jeff and wife, Nicole of Mechanicsburg and Jason of Camp Hill; one daughter, Megan of Camp Hill; 2 brothers, W. Reese LIchtel and his wife, Jeanmarie of Mechanicsburg and L. Edwin Lichtel and his wife, Susann of Elysburg; 2 grandchildren, Joshua and Annalyn.
Private funeral services will be held at the Myers-Harner Funeral Home of Camp Hill. Private burial will be in St. John's Cemetery, Hampton Twp.
