Harriet Bierschwale Fuhrmann died peacefully on September 22, at the age of 92, surrounded by loved ones.

Harriet was born on February 28, 1928 to Erna Saenger Langerhans and Harry Langerhans in Fredericksburg, Texas. She was a lifelong resident and a descendent of several of the founders of Fredericksburg. She was baptized into the Lutheran Church at Bethany Lutheran Church and confirmed there on March 29,1942. Her confirmation verse was Luke 11; 28. Harriet graduated from Fredericksburg High School in 1945 and attended Draughn's Business School in San Antonio. She worked as a secretary in the Human Resources Dept. at the Gillespie County Courthouse. On June 25, 1949 she married Elmer Bierschwale and they made their home in the Cherry Spring community. Harriet was a homemaker and was active in Bethany Lutheran Church where she was a Sunday School teacher, Bible School teacher and served on the Altar Guild. She was also a Girl Scout leader and was proud of her 25 years of volunteering with the hospital auxiliary of Hill County Memorial Hospital. She also worked at the Pioneer Memorial Library. She was an avid bridge and pinochle player, belonging to several clubs throughout the years and enjoyed games of all kinds. She loved planting and tending flowers in her flower garden. She loved her many friends and never forgot a birthday. Her main job and calling in life was as a wife and mother to her two children, Bryan and Lindy. This role was very important to her and she continued to care for and worry about her children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren for the rest of her life. Elmer preceded her in death on November 15,1982. She married Walter Fuhrmann on October 9, 1993. They enjoyed traveling and being together until his death on August 7, 2015.

Harriet is survived by her son Bryan Bierschwale and his wife Carrie, daughter Lindy Haley and her husband Mike, four grandchildren: Todd Bierschwale and his wife Cherril, Mike Taliaferro and his wife Sarah, Kimberly Swanner and her husband Chris, and Megan Staudt, 9 great grandchildren: Kate, Collin and Lacy Taliaferro; Halston, Hudson and Hawkins Staudt; Witten Bierschwale; and Lily and Elizabeth Swanner. She is also survived by two step-children Dale Fuhrmann and his wife Cathy, Denise Kunz and her husband Kevin, seven step-grandchildren and seven step-great grandchildren. Harriet was preceded in death by both of her husbands and one step- daughter Donna Kolmeier.

Services will be held on September 24 at 2:00 at Bethany Lutheran Church with visitation at Fredericksburg Funeral Home on September 23 from 5:00 to 7:00.
