Frank Haws was born near Cotton Gin, Texas, now known as Teague. He was preceded in death by his wife, Edith Helen Haws, and daughter, Patsy Lynn Haws. He is survived by his wife, Margaret Sampson Haws, son, Melvin Frank Haws, Jr., son, Keith Haws and wife Sissy, and daughter, Lisa Haws Bogs and husband Jeff. He leaves behind 3 step-children, John Sampson and wife Pat, Vanda Kay Freeman and husband Dale, and Lon Sampson and wife Janey. He is survived by 5 grandchildren, 5 step-grandchildren and 7 step-great grandchildren as well as nieces, nephews and life long friends. Frank was drafted into the US Army on Aug. 6, 1945. His duty overseas was served with the 34th Engineer Combat Battalion serving in Korea. He received the World War II Victory Metal, Army of Occupational Metal and received an honorable discharge in Jan. 1947. Edith Helen Terrell was the love of Frank's life and they were married for 48 years. Frank enjoyed fishing, hunting, play cards, dominos, square dancing, boating, camping or cruising down the river in their houseboat. He was a member of Jaycees for a couple years, a volunteer fireman for seven years and officer of the Lake Houston Memorial V.F.W. Post 4710. Being fortunate to find love again, Frank married Margaret Sampson of Humble in May of 1994. He and Margaret shared 13 joyous years together spending lots of time traveling throughout North America. His favorite trip by far was time spent in Alaska while fishing and enjoying the beautiful landscape. His legacy will forever be his vibrant smile and his love for other people.
