Alston was born in New Orleans, Louisiana, daughter of the late Harold and Ollie (Menfee) Stirling. On Feb. 7, 1970, she married Patrick F. Turchetta in Richmond, Va.
Surviving are her husband and sons, Jason (Melissa) of New Cumberland, Pa. and Brian Turchetta of Crafton, Md.; one grandson, Nicholas.
Alston was a 1970 graduate of the University of Richmond with a B.A. in History and Clarion University with a Masters in Library Science.
A funeral service will be held Saturday, Oct. 24, 2020 at 10 a.m., in The Stevens Mortuary Chapel, 1421 8th Ave., Altoona, Pa. 16602, where Covid-19 protocols will be followed.
