Emory Akers Hill, Sr. 80, died Monday, May 22, 2000, at home. He was born in Damascus, a son of the late Emory and Margaret Gollehon Hill. He lived most of his life in Washington County. He was a member of Byars Cobbs United Methodist Church. He was a former head coach at Damascus High School and was a dedicated teacher within the Washington County School System for many years. He was a former principal at Damascus Elementary and Patrick Henry High School, retiring in 1985. He then served as a member of the Washington County School Board for six years. Mr. Hill was a pilot in the U.S. Navy during World War II.
