Marilyn E. Prikryl, 73, of Taylor died Monday, October 27, 2003. She was born on January 11, 1930 in Austin, Texas to Ernst and Ida (Maschmeyer) Sturm. On October 16, 1949, she was married to John W. Prikryl.

She graduated from Holland High School in 1947 and attended Durham's Business College in Austin. From 1951 thru 1981 she and her husband John operated the Curve Inn Tavern in Taylor. She was also a retired cafeteria worker at T. H. Johnson Elementary, and was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother. She was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 52 years, Johnny Prikryl, in 2002; and also by her parents; and one brother, Luther Sturm.

She is survived by two sons, Dan Prikryl and wife Tina of Austin and James Prikryl and wife Donna Stetz of San Antonio; one daughter, Joyce Downs and husband, Jim of Taylor. She is also survived by three grandchildren, Jonathan (J.D.) Downs of Venice, CA., Joey Wilkes and husband, Travis of Austin and Emilian Stetz of San Antonio. She is also survived by one sister, Rosalyn Krause and husband Charles of Elgin; and she is also survived by three sister-in-laws, Roselee Prikryl, Agnes Prikryl and Gerte Maye Prikryl, all of Taylor, and one brother-in-law, Rufus Prikryl of Granger.

Family visitation will be Tuesday from 6 to 8 pm, October 28, 2003 at Providence Funeral Home in Taylor. Celebration of Life Mass will be 10 am, Wednesday at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Taylor with burial to follow at the church cemetery.

Pallbearers are Rufus Prikryl, Jr.,, Russell Krause, Stanley Krause, Jonathan Downs, Travis Wilkes, Mark Doer, and Michael Doer.

Memorials may be given to the Joe Downs Memorial Scholarship, c/o First State Bank, P.O. Box 1328, Taylor, TX. 76574 or the American Cancer Society, c/o Tamara Friar, 1701 N. Main, Taylor, TX. 76574.
