Mr. Jim L. (Peckerhead) DeJaynes, Abingdon Chapel, 63 of Abingdon died at 3:08 am Friday, September 21, 2007 at OSF St. Mary Medical Center in Galesburg.

He was born on September 12, 1944 in Galesburg to Orville and Geraldine Curtis DeJaynes.

He was preceded in death by his parents and a grandson, Cody Ray.

Jim was a lifelong Abingdon resident. He graduated from Abingdon High School. He later graduated from the Omaha Trade School of Refrigeration and Air Conditioning. He worked as a plumber. He was an avid St. Louis Cardinal Baseball fan and a Green Bay Packer Football fan. He was a member of the National Rifle Association, was an avid hunter and fisherman and especially enjoyed rabbit hunting with his beagles. He also enjoyed mushrooming and being a good washer thrower.

He was a member of the Sons of American Legion at the Harry E. Wiles American Legion Post #381 and was a past volunteer fireman for over 20 years for the Abingdon Fire Protection District.

Funeral service will be 10:00 am Tuesday, September 25, 2007 at the Hinchliff-Pearson-West Abingdon Chapel. Visitation will be from 6:00 to 8:00 pm Monday at the chapel. Cremation will be accorded following the funeral service.

Memorials may be made to the family for a fund to be established.
