Mazy was born on January 25, 1905 as Mazy Inez Faulk and lived most of her life in and around Mineola, Texas. She was a Bryan resident since 1984.

Known by her grandchildren and many others as Gangonna, she was a devoted grandmother. She enjoyed cooking and published a book of her recipes when she was 85. She was a lifelong learner and enjoyed reading, crochet and genealogy. She was a former teacher and, in the early 1960s, was chosen to become one of the first female dormitory advisors when co-eds began attending Texas A&M.

Her family and friends will miss her steadfast love and caring.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Raymond Turbeville, and beloved daughter, Lois Hughes.

Survivors include her daughter and son-in-law, Peggy and Durwood Speights of Bryan, four grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandsons.
