A visitation will be held from 11:00-2:00 on Saturday, March 24th at Brust Funeral Home, 135 S. Main St., Lombard. Funeral services will be held at 2:00. Interment will be at Chapel Hill Garden Cemetery in Oak Brook Terrace.
Mr. Pomon was the dearly beloved father of Richard (Dianne) and Carole (Bruce) Dankers. He was the loving stepfather of Ilyse Mechanic and Bruce (Diana) Hyman. He is also survived by his sister, Frances Karnofel, 15 grandchildren and 18 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Marian, his second wife, Shirlee, his brothers Luis, William, and Edward, his sister, Shirley, and his great-granddaughter Amelia.
Mr. Pomon was accomplished in many areas of his life. He lived in Lombard from 1950-72, building the home he lived in on South Lewis Ave. He was a veteran of the Navy, having served in World War II. He earned both bachelors and masters degrees in electrical engineering from Illinois Institute of Technology, and worked as an engineer for 40 years. During those years he was awarded two patents. In addition, he taught engineering at IIT for many years. Mr. Pomon held a pilot's license for single-engine planes, and later took glider lessons. For the past 21 years, up until his death, he taught physics and math at Valley Torah High School in Valley Village CA, and was dearly loved by all of his students, each of whom claimed to be his favorite.
