Walter was the son of JOhn Hudson and Martha Elkins who had 12 children in all then John married Willie Lee Meares and they had four children. John, Martha and Willie Lee are all buried in the Cloverhill Cemetery in Lott, Texas.

Walter married Lola Estelle Weatherford and they raised 7 children living in the Falls and McLennan County of Texas.
The children, Woodrow, Floyd, Leonard and Harrell and the daughters, Corine, Maurine and Marie.

Walter farmed the land then during the War, he worked as a night watchman at Blackland in Waco.

About 1936, he lost his hand in a gun accident going through a fence and finally went into house painting as he got a hook for his left hand and then he could paint with his right.

Then when he got older, he went to live in a home in North waco for older gentleman and they had a house fire and he died of smoke inhalation, etc in 1958.

I miss my grandfather. He was always good to us grandkids. He would take me for rides in his coup car after he lost his hand and he did fine even shifting those gears and he was a great biscuit maker as he lived with us from time to time and he would hold the bowl with his stump and mix with his good hand. What a guy!

Love you Grandpa from your 4th granddaughter
