Thomas Christopher McRae was born at Prescott,Arkansas, April 17,1882, the sixth child of Thomas Chipman McRae and Amelia Ann (White) McRae. He attended the Public Scholls of Prescott,Ark. and Washington, DC; the Spears Langford Military Institute of Searcy, Ark; Washington & Lee University; Keys Business College, Little Rock,Ark.
In the fall of 1901, he became private secretary to his father while his father was in Congress in Washington,DC, continuing in this work until the senior McRae's retirement from Congress in 1903. He returned to Prescott that year and was associated with the McRae & Tompkins Law Firm, studying law and working for this firm with the intention of being admitted to the Bar. In addition to his work as stenographer for McRae and Tompkins, He also worked for various other lawyers taking depositions and cases for the Chancery Court.When the Bank of Prescott was organized in August 1904, he gave part time to the Law Firm and part time to the Bank, In 1905 he was elected assistant cashier of the Bank and gave his full time to this position. In 1907, he was made Cashier and in June 1920 was elected President and served in this capacity until July 1950, when he resigned and was then elected chairman of the Board. On Dec 26,1903 (?),he was married to Miss Clio Pittman,daughter of John Marshall and Jennie Carr Pittman. Two children were born to Mr and Mrs McRae, Helen who married John Fletcher Sage and John Thomas who married Jamie Cox. Mr McRae die at a Texarkana hospital Thursday morning, Oct 9 after several weeks of Illness. Burial was in DeAnn Cemetery.
