He is presumably the “Matthias Flock” of Roxbury Tp. who is recorded in the 1793 list of Morris County freeholders.
The division of his estate lists his “only children” as Martin Flock, Margaret Weiss (nee Flock), John Flock, Andrew Flock, Mary Flock (minor), and Matthias Flock (who was appointed a guardian of his sister Mary).
Known issue (per Chambers):
Martin Flock, fl. 1806, when he is mentioned in the division of his father’s estate.
Margareta Flock, b. 10 April 1775, fl. 1806. She m. by 1806, John Vas (or Was or Voos or Weiss), of Marksboro, Hardwick Tp., Warren Co., N.J.; possibly the John Vass, aged 86, born in Pennsylvania, and evidently a widower, a farmer with $25,200 worth of land, who appears in the 1850 census of Hardwick Tp. with Isaac S. Vass (aged 32), his wife Elen [sic (aged 25), and their child John B. (aged 1 month).
In the History of Sussex and Warren counties, New Jersey (1881), it is stated: “John Wass, or Vass, as it is now spelled, was among the settlers [of Hardwick township] about the middle of the last century.”[53] But this may have been an older man of the same name.
Matthias Flock, Jr., b. 18 Dec. 1781.
John Flock, b. 2 Nov. 1784, living 1818.
Andrew Flock, b. 22 April 1787.
Anna Maria Flock, b. 21 Oct. 1796.
She m. (as his second wife) Jeremiah Lanning, of Mount Herman, Hope Twp., Warren Co., New Jersey
b. 3 July 1794,
d. 8 April 1861, “aged 66 years, 9 months, and 5 days,” and buried at Yellow Frame, Frelinghuysen Tp., Warren Co., New Jersey,
Jeremiah Lanning, a widower of Elizabeth Divers (whom he married 25 Jan. 1821, with issue) and son of Edward Lanning (1764-1843), of Yellow Frame, by the latter’s wife Jane Smith (1768-1863), a sister of Silas Smith.
His estate was inventoried in 1861.
She is called “Mary” in the division of her father’s estate. William C. Armstrong specifically states that her marriage to Jeremiah Lanning was without issue.
