She was born January, 26, 1921 in Pittsylvania County, VA, a daughter of the late Green Motley and the late Lou Chaney Carter. She was married to Robert Tarpley, who survives.
In addition to her husband of the residence, survivors include three sons, James Wooding, Michael Hundley and Jacoby Davis, all of Danville, VA; one sister, Elna Carter of Danville, VA; and a host of grandchildren, nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
The family will receive friends at the residence.
Funeral services will be conducted Sunday, September 25, 2011 at 2:00PM from White Oak Grove Missionary Baptist Church with Rev. Edward L. Pope officiating. Interment will follow in Danville Memorial Gardens.
