Helen L. LaFalier, 94, passed away at 9:55 p.m., Tuesday, October 13, 2020, at the Parsons Presbyterian Manor.

Helen L. Clevenger was born on November 15, 1925, on a farm near Edna to Carl Benjamin and Ethel (Kessler) Clevenger. As a young girl, she grew up in the Edna area and attended Star School near Edna.

She worked on her family farm until marrying Ray C. LaFalier on May 26, 1948, in Oswego, Kansas. Following marriage, the family lived near Melrose for a time. Throughout the rest of her life, Helen lived in the Bartlett and Chetopa area.

The LaFalier family was very involved in rodeos and Helen was literally the Rodeo Queen, winning every queen event she ever entered. Her greatest joy came from spending time with her family. She made every Christmas a special occasion for the entire family. She loved collecting old bottles, assembling picture albums and scrapbooks and quilting.

Survivors include:
Three sons – Tim LaFalier and his wife, Jane, of Broken Arrow, Oklahoma , Rocky LaFalier and his wife, Jackey, of Bartlett, Kansas, Robert LaFalier and his wife, Lisa, of Altamont, Kansas
One daughter – Annette Molitor and her husband, Leonard, of Chetopa, Kansas
One sister – Pearl Patton of Coffeyville, Kansas

She was preceded in death by her husband, Ray LaFalier, on March 19, 2020; one brother, Clyde Clevenger; and one sister, Darlene Lotz.

There will be a graveside service at 1:00 p.m., Friday, October 16, 2020, at Lake Creek Cemetery in Bartlett. Friends may call from 1 – 8:00 p.m., on Thursday at the Bath-Forbes-Hoffman Funeral Home in Chetopa.

Memorials are suggested to American Heart Association. These may be left at or mailed to Bath-Forbes-Hoffman Funeral Home, P.O. Box 346, Chetopa, KS 67336.
