Prior Talley had his name listed many ways Prior, Pryor, Priar Tally(Talley) on different census. Remember this was very early in America's life and some folks could not read nor write....even the census takers. Something very imortant to remember when trying to locate family is the use of nicknames and also using the middle name as the given name. So many generations used and reused family names that it becomes very confusing.

It is very unlikely he was born in Caswell co., North Carolina. Most likely would be Anson co., North Carolina or Halifax Co., Virginia. The Henry Talley in 1800 York co., South Carolina is not Prior Talley, although I think it it may be his father as the older man and the younger Henry may be the brother to Prior. Prior was in a-Anson co., North Carolina in 1800. 1810 he hasn't been found. 1820 he was in Pendelton Dist. S.C. 1830 he was living in Habersham Co., Georgia. That is the last place we have him. His wife Nancy Elizabeth Hensley Talley sold her property in 1832 and went west with the Cherokee Indians. She was living in what is today Murray Co., Georgia in 1832. In 1830 this area was listed on the census as Habersham Co., Georgia.
