Lt. Col. (USAF retired) James (Jim/Jimmy) Adron Holmes, age 65, of Roswell, Ga., passed away on Thursday, March 12, 2009.

He was preceded in death by parents Eva Nester Holmes and Adron Holmes of London.

He is survived by his wife Joann Simpson Holmes, of Roswell, Ga.; his sons Kenneth A. Holmes, of Colorado Springs, Colo., and James R. Holmes, of Parrish, Fla.; his aunts Clara Nester Johnson, of Roswell, Ga., and Libby Nester Redmon, of Louisville, Ky.; five grandchildren, one great-grandchild, and numerous beloved cousins, nieces, nephews, and dear friends.

Loved by all, who were fortunate enough to know him, Jim will be sorely missed.

The family received friends at Roswell Funeral Home from 5 to 7 p.m. Saturday, March 14, 2009.

Funeral services were at 11 a.m. Monday, March 16, 2009, at Mount Zion Chapel in Atlanta, with the Rev. Roy Watkins officiating.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to the American Lung Association at www.lungusa.org.
