Mr. Boyer was a prominent and esteemed lifelong citizen of Hancock County. He was a graduate of Georgia Military College High School and College. He served in the United States Air Force during the Korean War and retired as a Captain with the 214th Field Artillery Georgia Army National Guard with 20 years of service. He retired from the Logging Industry and was the owner of Circle B. Ranch Cattle Farm in Hancock County. He served as Commander of the American Legion Post 83 for over 50 years and was a Mason.
Survivors include his wife of 49 years, Fay Wood Boyer, his children; George Stephen Boyer, Margaret Boyer Allen all of Sparta and SueAnn Balkcom (Ben) of Macon, 4 grandchildren; Special Agent Jonathan Douglas Morgan (Lacey), Mandy Vaughn (Brillain), Marci Cochran (Nick) and Lindsay Jones (Marty), his mother-in-law Margaret Martin Nettles, and three great grandchildren.
