WASHTUCNA - Funeral services for H. A. Schlecht, who passed away last Thursday morning, were held at the Community church last Saturday afternoon at 2 o'clock.

Brother Sworner of Spokane officiated. Music was furnished by Mrs. Sworner and Mrs. Miller, also of Spokane.

The casket bearers were R. J. Price, W. T. Harris, William Scott, Fey Sitton, H. H. Hammond and Lee Wilson. Interment was in the Washtucna cemetery.

Herman Adolph Schlecht was born in Beemer, Nebraska, on April 4, 1870. On April 10, 1893 he was united in marriage to Annie Theresa Keisler. To this union four children were born: Mrs. Donald Metzgus of Glendale, Cal., Mrs. Warren Roberts of Corvallis, Ore., Arthur H. of Rupert, Ida., and Alvin E. Washtucna. This union was broken by the death of the wife and mother on March 31, 1903.

In 1906 Mr. Schlecht moved to Oregon where he raised his family to maturity. He went to Canada in 1916 and the following year on Sept. 12 he married Bertha E. Grant. To them was born a son, James H.

He came to Washtucna in March, 1935, where he resided until his death. He was an "International Bible Student."

Surviving are his widow, two daughters, three sons, one step-son, Lester, and 14 grandchildren, also two brothers, Ernest and Charles in Nebraska.
