In the spring of 1889 he brought his family to Nebraska and settled down near Sprague at the home of his brother, where he lived two years. He then bought a place near Princeton, where he lived till his death.
On November 29 he and his wife drove to Lincoln to spend a few days with their daughters. He took sick the next day at the home of Mrs. J. F. Mohr, 1328 Wood street, and died there December 10. He was buried at the Stockfeldt cemetery. He reached the age of 76 years, 3 months, 18 days.
He leaves besides his wife three daughters, two sons and three grandchildren. One son passed on ahead of him the second day after they arrived in this country. Those surviving are: Mrs. J. F. Mohr, Mrs. J. C. Scott, Otto, Julius and Amanda Koehler. The two youngest are still at home. Otto is in business at Princeton, and two married daughters are living in Lincoln.
