Eulogy for Inez Evelyn Turrell Crawford by her son, Larry Allen Crawford.
"Mom was born September 13th, 1926. She was raised in a loving, Christian home. Though the family experienced financial hardships there was always happiness to be found and music. All the family members played a musical instrument and many evenings would find the "family band" rehearsing a new selection. The whole family enjoyed church and roller-skating, (though not at the same time), and it was at a roller skating rink that Mom met her husband and life-long partner, Vic. Her husband Vic wrote: "I met my wife while in the CCC's. I was 18 by now and I thought she was 17. I didn't ask how old she was but three months later she had a birthday and she became 14. She was the first and only girlfriend I ever had. I was still afraid of girls and didn't know how to show love. We went together for four months before I asked her if I could kiss her and she said yes. It scared me half to death. Well, we did kiss but I was awkward and she didn't know much about it either. So we both decided we would have to do a lot of practicing. World War II came after the CCC's so I joined the Army. Inez and I got married after three years of courtship on July 11th, 1943. Six months later I was sent overseas. Then came our first child, Shirley Ella, born January 6, 1944." The war over, their daughter, Diana Louise, was born July 17th, 1946. Then came Larry on March 28th, 1950. Mom announced to Dad that he had a son now and that she was through having babies. They moved from Oregon to California in 1954 where Mom's brother, Raymond Stanley Turrell, helped Dad get a job at Northrop. Mom was always kept busy with us kids and church and occasionally worked out of the home. When Mom's mother died in 1972 Mom found herself the guardian of the Turrell family records. They became involved in the Northrop camping club and for many years enjoyed their monthly campouts and meeting new friends. When they finally settled in Placentia they became active in the Calvary church. When Dad's health began to fail Mom brought him a tape of the services so he could hear it at home. Mom soon took over the enormous task of organizing and copying the tape library at the church. Vic went to be with Jesus at 6:30 a.m., December 25th, 1989. Mom continued attending church and functions and ladies teas with her sister Esther Turrell. Esther became her confidant and close, trusted friend. Mom was hospitalized about 3 years ago and had to have surgery on her intestines. It was then the doctors found she had diabetes and her kidneys had failed. She would have to take insulin and have dialysis 3 times a week for the rest of her life. Many months later Mom came home and her son Larry and his wife moved into the spare bedroom to take care of her. After many long months Mom began to improve and finally she was driving herself to dialysis in Brea and to church and to the store. She was determined to be independent. It was on a Tuesday morning, January 16th, during dialysis that she suffered a stroke that left her paralyzed on her right side and unable to speak. Mom went to be with Jesus 12:30 a.m., January 22nd, 2001.
Mom and Dad can do a lot more practicing now."
