William "Bill" Thomas Chinnery, 79, of Prairie Village, Kansas, died on January 17, 2015. He was born on July 4, 1935 in Kansas City, Kansas to George W. and Ardyce (Hardy) Chinnery. In 1944, the family moved to Kansas City, Missouri where Bill attended Bryant Elementary School; he graduated from Southwest High School in 1953. He applied to Yalle, Princeton and Harvard and was accepted into all three. He chose Yale University, where he was a member of the swim team, and graduated in 1958 with a major in religion. He was General Agent for Bankers Life of Nebraska in the Kansas City area from 1965 until 1972 before becoming an independent life and health insurance agent for more than 30 years. He was an active member and past-president of the Yale Club of Kansas City, The Kansas City Star 40 Years Ago Column Club, and the Native Sons and Daughters of Greater Kansas City. He served two terms on the Board of Directors of the Prairie Village Homes Association, and he was on the founding Board of Directors of Marillac. He sang in the Kansas City Heart of America Barbershop Chorus. He was preceded in death by his mother and father; infant daughter, Constance Renee Chinnery; two brothers, George Joseph Chinnery and Lawrence Windle Chinnery; and nephew, CWO3 John Johnson. He is survived by his wife of twenty years, sister, four brothers, daughter, two step-daughters, three grandchildren, one great-grandson and several nieces and nephews. Funeral: 11:00 a.m. January 31, 2015 at Grace and Holy Trinity Episcopal Cathedral, 13th and Broadway, Kansas City, Missouri, where he was a member.
