Clarence C. Coen, 84, of Claysville R. D. 2, died at 6 p.m. Friday, February 25, 1994, in Washington Hospital after a two-year illness.

Born April 6, 1909, in Jacksonburg, West Virginia, he was a son of James and Viola McDougal Coen.

Mr. Coen was a Protestant and was employed by Nickles Bakery for 37 years prior to retirement.

He served as a Petty Officer Third Class with the U.S. Navy during World War II in the Pacific Theater and was a lifelong member of the Taylorstown American Legion Post 907.

On October 13, 1934, he married Hazel M. Craig, who survives.

Two sons also survive, James Coen of Fairborn, Ohio, and Donald Coen of Westland, Michigan; two brothers, Arley Coen of Smithfield, West Virginia, and Shirley Coen of Canonsburg R.D. 2; five granddaughters, Rita Lyman, Diane Coen, Sandra Coen, Nancy Alvarez, and Carrie Coen; two grandsons, Donald C. Coen and Andrew Coen; and six great-grandchildren.

Deceased are seven brothers and two sisters.
