Born in Tenn. Dec 1, 1788 (possibly brother of Samuel who migrated to Ky. prior to War of 1812 b Oct 7, 1859 in Owen Co. Ky).

John enlisted in War of 1812 on Feb 8, 1815 and served a 30 day enlistment as private, he was on the rolls of Capt. John Bush's Company, Kentucky Militia, commanded by Ltd. Col. John Francisco.

On Dec 17, 1816 in Fayette Co. Ky. he married Elizabeth Hunter. John was a "Tollgate Keeper". Father of William Henry (Matilda) Lusby, Mary Hunter Lusby (Garland B. Lusby) her cousin, Ann Eliza Lusby (Lloyd Bennett), Caroline Lusby (William McMains), and John Harrod Lusby Jr who never married.
