Obituaries

NORRELL
Dixie L. Norrell, 90, died Sept. 15, 1998, in the Sayre Memorial Hospital. Services were held Thursday, Sept. 17 at the Sayre First Baptist Church with Rev. Don Adams officiating. Burial was in the Buffalo Cemetery under the direction of Rose Chapel Funeral Service of Sayre.

Mrs. Norrell, the daughter of Dixie L. Coston and Ira Maddox, was born on March 2, 1908, in Paris, Texas. She attended school at Broadway High School in Paris. She married Porter Norrell on Feb. 17, 1925 in Paris. The couple came to Western Oklahoma in 1930. They lived in the Mayfield and Delhi communities, where they were active in farming. She was a member of the Hext Baptist Church and was active in the home demonstration club and the quilting club.

She was preceded in death by her husband and one son, Jack.

She is survived by two sons, Leon Norrell of Lawton, Okla., and Ron Norrell of Dallas; one daughter, Marjorie Roberts Whitfield of Lubbock, Texas; six grandchildren, Rodney Roberts, Robin Roberts, Terry Norrell, Steve Norrell, Debbie Norrell Culpa and Jack Norrell, Jr.; eight great-grandchildren; one brother, Willie Maddox of Muleshoe, Texas; two sisters, Maggie Reese of Brownfield, Texas, and Sallie Williams of Houston; and many other relatives and friends.
