She was born in Walton County on Aug. 21, 1923, to Grace Townsley Atha and William Atha.
She was preceded in death by her parents and by her husband, Ralph Oliver Carter; brothers, Walter Atha, Floyd Atha, Emmitt, Atha and Grady Paul Atha.
She is survived by several nieces and nephews.
A funeral service began at 4 p.m. Sunday, March 20, in the Chapel of Meadows Funeral Home. Burial followed at Hill Haven Memory Gardens.
