Alberta Shown died peacefully on July 5, 2023, with her family by her side. Born to Casper and Stella Ma (Goodmen) Bean in Speedwell, TN, Birdie lived her younger years there with her 17 brothers and sisters. She attended Hayward Schools.

Birdie met Nolan and they were married and moved to Ohio. She worked at Burger King and Don's Drive-In, but her main focus was always family. She loved her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren immensely.

Whether playing Uno or Bingo, Birdie was a fierce competitor and a very sore loser. It was best to let her win! Feisty and independent, you could find her walking wherever she needed to go. You always knew exactly where you stood with her. She spoke her mind, no matter what.

Left to cherish her memory are her children, Tara (Keith), Alan, Jimmy, Christine (Roger); grandchildren, Christine, Billy, Juana, Tony, Frankie, PJ, Brian, Nicole; great grandchildren, Alexander, Aiden, James, Mia, Isabella, Adarena, Skyler Jr., Alicia, Alana, Alivia, Alycca, Luna, Kenzie; sisters, Lizzie Le, TJ, Norma, Jeannie, and Gerri.

Preceding her in death are her parents; siblings, Buddy, Earl, Mary and Alice, Edna, David.

Visitation will be held at the Walker Funeral Home – Oregon Chapel (3500 Navarre Ave.) on Monday, July 10, 2023, from 10 am – 12 pm with a service beginning at 12pm. Interment will follow at Willow Cemetery.
