Russell Allison, age 89, passed away on Thursday, September 24, 2020 at Parkridge Nursing & Rehab Center.

He was born the son of Newton and Lucetta Allison on December 6, 1930 in Lovilia, Iowa.

Russell proudly served his country in the US Air Force from 1950-1954.

He worked as a bottler for Roberts Dairy and retired in 1988.

Russell was a jack of all trades and would help anyone at the drop of a hat.

He enjoyed woodworking and above all, he treasured time spent with his family.

Those left to cherish his memory include his loving children, Bill (Debbie) Allison, Carolyn Allison, and Randy Allison, brother, Ronnie Allison; grandchildren, Ami (Brian) Smith, Angi (Jason) Grandstaff, Abbi Allison, Cael Allison, and Travis Robinson; and great-grandchildren, Bailee Smith, Aiden Smith, Trevor Robinson, Olivia Robinson, Braxon Grandstaff, and Bracen Grandstaff.

Russell was preceded in death by his parents; beloved wife, Geneva Allison; three brothers, Johnny, Richard and Ken Allison; and two sisters, Marie Hawk and Phyllis Allison.

Family will greet friends from 6 to 8 p.m., Sunday, September 27, 2020 at Hamilton’s Funeral Home, 605 Lyon Street, Des Moines. Graveside service will be held at 10 a.m., Monday, September 28th at Laurel Hill Cemetery.

Memorials may be made to the family in memory of Russell.
