Corydon Fordyce Wood died at his home on Ross street, Waynesburg, Friday morning, Sept. 16, 1949, at 6:08. Death was due to cerebral hemorrhage.

He was the son of Edward and Sarah Fordyce Wood. His father was a descendant of William Wood, a soldier of the Revolutionary War, who settled on the Mt. His mother was also of a distinguished pioneer family and traced her ancestry to George Washington. Edward Wood served in the Union Army under General Custer during the Civil War and at the close of the war settled near St. Louis, Michigan, where Mr. Wood was born Oct. 20, 1872. He was a graduate of the Yerington College at st. Louis and taught school several years.

In 1895 he removed with his parents and sister to Romney, W. Va., and after residing there for five years, they located at Rogersville, where Mr. Wood engaged in the furniture and undertaking business, in which he was very successful. In 1925 he sold his property and interest to the Scott-Adamson firm and located in Waynesburg, where he has since resided, conducting a floor covering store.

Wood, of Waynesburg, and Mrs. Ralph C. Stockdale, of Waynesburg. Also three grandchildren, Holly, James David and Darlene Joy Wood, of Waynesburg.
