Charles "Charlie" Baker, age 90, of Lincoln, passed away on September 7, 2012. He was born on July 8, 1922 to Neal and Anna Baker in Cedar Rapids, Neb. Charlie graduated from Walton High School in 1939. He served as a Paratrooper in the U.S. Army during WWII. In 1945, "C.N." Baker returned to Burlington Railroad, where he retired as an engineer in 1987. He married Shirley M. Krantz in June of 1948.


Charlie is preceded in death by his parents; and two brothers, James and Richard. He is survived by his wife, Shirley; their children, Christine McNulty (Anthony Lonzo), Tom (Mary) Baker, Pat (Theresa) Baker, Carolyn (Steve) Thomas; nine grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and two nephews.


A funeral service in Charlie's honor will be 12:30 p.m. Wednesday, September 12, 2012, Lincoln Memorial Funeral Home, 6800 So. 14th Street. Visitation will be Tuesday from 12-8 p.m., with family greeting relatives and friends from 5-7 p.m. Memorials in Charlie's name to the Nebraska Game and Parks Commission, 2200 No. 33rd St, Lincoln, NE 68503.
