Arlis Thomas Sanders was the son of Thomas Christopher Sanders and Myrtie Jackman Sanders. He was born July 27, 1914 in Casey Co. KY. and died Jan. 10, 1986. Arlis was a good, generous and kind man. He was the father of 3 boys, Robert L (Bob), Arlen R. & Adrain T. Sanders. He was married to Alma Lou Reed Sanders. He was the brother of Clell & Leslie, Herman, Kenneth, Omer, & Albert Sanders, a sister, Nell Limerick.
Arlis had 13 grandchildren.
Arlis was a hard worker. He owned and operated a laundry mat, owned several saw mills, co-owmer of Sanders Brothers Building Supply. Owned a farm and took care of his rental property. He was the first Mayor of the city of Liberty, KY., owned a trucking company, Sanders & Leigh. He owned and operated the first cab company in Liberty. The family had a pony farm, and milked cows in the 50's.
Arlis enjoyed watching his children play basketball and other sports. The helped get the Little League Baseball and Basketball programs started in Liberty.
He was involved in the Boy Scouts of America.
He was an Elder & member of The Church of JESUS CHRIST of Latter-Day Saints.
