Ernest graduated from Wheaton High School in 1970, and attended John Brown University for two years, where he was a pitcher on the college’s baseball team. Those that knew Ernie will remember that he ran a hay crew for many years; for most of his adult life he worked construction, mostly alongside his brother Richard, and nephews: Jerimiah and Zechariah Anderson; was a huge St. Louis Cardinals fan; loved to be outdoors hunting, trapping, fishing, gardening, and raising honey bees.
The family will fondly remember him for his big heart, infectious smile, quick wit, and sense of humor, such as ordering at a drive thru, and then telling them “I want that to go.” Ernie often shared sage advice, such as “Don’t take any wooden nickels;” and he certainly had the gift of gab; he never met a stranger. He was responsible for keeping the Anderson Family Strawberry Shortcake Recipe alive; bringing it annually to our family reunions; and was just an overall good guy, that we all loved.
More than anything Ernie loved his daughter and grandkids. He cherished every minute he was able to spend with them, serving as Santa Claus during the holidays, and surprising them with a bounty of gifts. We are very thankful that he was able to spend a couple of weeks with them just a few days before his passing.
Some of you may recall that in May of 2017, Ernest was resuscitated by Shain Webb of Rocky Comfort, Missouri, following a drowning incident in Indian Creek. Thanks to Shain’s quick actions we were able to have Ernie for in our lives for a few extra years. Thanks, again, Shain. (A reminder that we all need to take CPR training, because you never know when you will need it). Due to health reasons, Ernie had been living with his sister, in Knob Noster, Missouri for the past two years, but he never gave up hope that he would return to his home, at Rocky, and be able to go back to work.
Due to the current COVID-19 outbreak his Celebration of his Life has been scheduled for Saturday May 15th, 2021 at 1:00 p.m., at the Rocky Comfort Church of Christ, and is planned as an outdoor event, in case a vaccine for COVID-19 is not yet available. If you have any photos with/of Ernest that you would like to be included in a PowerPoint presentation at his celebration of life, please send them to Barbara Lamb: [email protected], or mail them to: 800 Sunset Blvd, Knob Noster, MO 65336.
Your condolences may be sent to Angela Anderson at: 13329 E. 41st Place, Tulsa OK 74134.

Gravesite Details
Earnest was cremated. He’s not buried at Barry cemetery or anywhere but I had to choose one. Findagrave.com seems to have done away with the cremation choice.
