MSGT John R. Arrowsmith, US Air Force, Ret., 89, of Leechburg, PA, passed away on Sunday, September 13, 2020 in his residence.

A son of the late John D. Arrowsmith and Helen (Rowe) Arrowsmith, he was born November 8, 1930, in Seattle, Washington.

John retired as a Master Sergeant from the U.S. Air Force in 1974 as a flight engineer with 26 years of active service. He served in the military during the Korean and Viet Nam Wars, traveling to many places including Washington State, California, Utah, Washington D.C., Saudi Arabia, Okinawa, Laos, Viet Nam and Germany. He had always shown an interest in aviation with his first flying lessons at the age of 14. After retirement, he worked in the Forest Service in the D.C. area for another 20 years. He enjoyed traveling in the great outdoors by hiking and camping.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his three wives, Shirley (Barnett) Arrowsmith, Ann (Hallgren) Arrowsmith, Geraldine (Wilkerson) Arrowsmith; and a son, Robert G. Arrowsmith.

Interment will be made at Arlington National Cemetery in Virginia.
