Thelma Mullins Mounts, age 83 of Old Lesters Fork Road, Grundy, Virginia passed away Wednesday, September 16, 2020, at the Bristol Regional Medical Center, Bristol, Tennessee after complications from heart surgery.
Born March 7, 1937, at Hurley, Virginia, she was the daughter of the late Reverend Harvey J. Mullins and Lula Blankenship Mullins. She lived in the Tri-Cities area for more than 30 years before returning to Buchanan County in 2016. Thelma attended Iaeger High School and was an honor graduate of Southwest Virginia Community College and East Tennessee State University. She earned her BBA-Accounting Degree and worked for Wellmont Medical for many years. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and great-great-grandmother. She was of the Baptist Faith. Thelma enjoyed traveling to new places, cruising, four-wheeler riding, and the lake. She loved living life to the fullest. She never let her age slow her down or keep her from doing the things she loved.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 45 years, Barnest (Lee Varney) Mounts; one son, Steven Mounts; three brothers, Lowell Mullins, twin infant brothers, Jerry and Terry Mullins.
