"MOTHER AND CHILD DEAD. Mrs. Myrtle Phenis Bumgardner and baby, who were so seriously burned Wednesday evening, both died. The baby, an eighteen-months-old boy, named Newton, died Wednesday evening, and Mrs. Bumgardner died yesterday afternoon at 4 p. m. She was a good Christian woman and will be greatly missed. She leaves her husband; mother and father, Mr. and Mrs. Newton Phenis; two brothers, George and Howard; two sisters, Mrs. Lydia Brown and Emma Phenis; also many friends to mourn her death. Funeral arrangements will be announced later."

Manager's note: sister "Lydia" was listed as Sallie Mae in many censuses and other sources. I'm not aware her nickname was Lydia so this likely was an error on the newspaper's part.
