Joanna Louise Anesi went home to be with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on July 6, 2020 at the age of 73. She was born November 15, 1946 in Kirksville, Missouri.

After graduating high school, she moved to Bethany, Oklahoma to attend Bethany Nazarene College to earn her Bachelor’s in Elementary Education and Secondary Reading and in 1978 completed four Masters degrees in Elementary Education, Reading Specialist K-12, Language Art for Junior High and Social Studies for Junior High.

Joanna began her career as a teacher at Darlington School in El Reno, Oklahoma. She taught night classes at Tinker and Rose State College in Midwest City, Oklahoma, taught at Choctaw Middle School in Choctaw, Oklahoma and finally retired from teaching in 2000. Joanna won several awards in her long teaching career, the 1978 Teacher of the year at Darlington School for Canadian County was just the start.

Joanna resided in Choctaw, Oklahoma. She was preceded in death by her parents, James B. and Dorothy Anesi and her sister, Suanna Anesi. She is survived by her sister, Deanna Field of Oklahoma and brothers, Jim Anesi of Missouri, Jesse Anesi of Tennessee and Robert Anesi of Colorado.

Joanna’s greatest joy was being an aunt, great-aunt and great-great aunt. She bragged to anyone who would listen about the visits with her nieces and nephews and telling updates about their lives, accomplishments and additions of children to their families. She enjoyed the benefits of Facebook so it was easier to keep up with the nephews and nieces that did not live locally and who she was not able to physically visit. Aunt Joanna was beloved by her nieces and nephews and during her life she was generous and desired to give them experiences and memories to last their lifetime.

Joanna is survived by nieces, Maria Field of Texas; Vanessa Fry of Oklahoma, Georgette Bulluck of Oklahoma and Lydia Anesi of Colorado; nephews Jacob Anesi, of Iowan, Jerry Anesi of Missouri and Jordan Anesi of Tennessee; also, great nephews Jeremiah Field of Oklahoma, Jacob Fry of Oklahoma, Zadyn Anesi of Missouri, Gavin Anesi of Iowa, Grady Anesi of Missouri and Camden Anesi of Missouri; great nieces Alyssa Fry of Oklahoma, Audriana Anesi of Iowa, Bria Anesi of Missouri, June Anesi of Tennessee, Violet Anesi of Iowa and Isabel Anesi of Tennessee; great-great nephews James Field, Alexander Field and Michael Samson Field, all of Oklahoma.

Visitation to be held from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. at Choctaw Church of the Nazarene with Funeral at 1:00 p.m. Saturday, July 18 at Choctaw Church of the Nazarene located at 1100 Harper St., Choctaw, Oklahoma.

Joanna’s body will be laid to rest at Memory Lane Cemetery Harrah, Oklahoma following the funeral. Services under the direction of Absolute Economical Funeral Home, Oklahoma City, Oklahoma.
