A granddaughter of Brigham Young, soprano Emma Bowen studied voice at Berlin's Royal Conservatory of Music. At the age of 17 she sang at the Royal Opera House in Berlin and toured Germany and France. She also toured Austria, Switzerland, Holland, Belgium and the British Isles.
At the outbreak of WWI she returned to the U.S. and appeared in cities there and in Canada. She was also one of the founders of the Society of American Singers.
