Oral Wesley Applegate son of Bland and Mary Hannah Allee Applegate was born Jan. 30, 1893 in Owen county where he spent most of his life he was married to Mabel Marie Bryant, Feb. 10,1917 and to this union were born two children Esther Marie and Jack Lloyd.
The Owen County farmer served eight years as trustee of Harrison township in that county. A member of Samaria Baptist church, he belonged to F. and A. M. Lodge 655 and Quincy Chapter Eastern Star No. 298.
He leaves the wife at home, the son Jack, four grandchildren Michael Lloyd, Sharon Lynn, Cheryl Ann and Karen Marie Applegate of Greenfield, also four sisters Etta Wright. of Martinsville, Mettie Stierwalt of Ellettsville, Lola Stierwatt and Lora Shuler of Paragon, his daughter, mother, father and four brothers preceded him in death. He had been in failing health for sometime, but passed away suddenly in Bloomington Hospital Nov. 26, 1964 at the age of 71 years, 9 months and 4 days.
