Mrs. Della Baker Phipps, 82 years old, wife of John A. Phillips, retired Pennsylvania railroad conductor, died at her home yesterday afternoon (November 11, 1939) following a stroke of apoplexy. She resided at 4005 South Calhoun Street.
Funeral Services will be held Monday (November 13, 1939), 2 p.m. at Gets and Cahill funeral home with Dr. Paul H. Krauss in charge. Burial will be in Lindenwood Cemetery. The body may be viewed at the funeral home after 1:30 p.m. today.
Mrs. Phipps was born in Huron County, Ohio February 1, 1857. Later she was taken by her parents, the late Mr. and Mrs. A.A. Baker, to Monroeville.
Since her marriage, April 22, 1879, Mrs. Phipps resided in Fort Wayne and was for many years active in the old Fort Wayne Conservatory of Music. She was a member of Trinity English Lutheran Church.
Besides her husband, she is survived by two daughters, Mrs. S. Clayton Gouty of Fort Wayne and Mrs. B.F. Sprunger of Portland; two sons, Raymond C. Phipps of Fort Wayne and John A. Phipps, Jr. of Steward, Illinois, and five grandchildren.
