FORT WORTH — William Frank Allison, our beloved "Ace," passed away peacefully Monday morning, July 11, 2011, early in his 80th year. Surrounded by family, we said goodbye to a loving husband, remarkable father and amazing grandfather.
SERVICE: A celebration of his life will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday in the chapel of Robertson Mueller Harper.
MEMORIALS: In lieu of usual remembrances, consideration of expressions to the Humane Society of North Texas, 1840 E. Lancaster Ave., Fort Worth, Texas 76103, in his memory, is suggested.
Born in Little Rock, Ark., on May 4, 1931, the son of Frank and Ione {Glover} Allison, Frank Jr. graduated from Central High School in 1948. He immediately joined the U.S. Navy and served during the Korean War. He began his career as salesman of men's clothing in Little Rock, Arkansas where he became skilled in business management, negotiations and problem solving. In 1951, he married his wife, Josephine; they began their life together in Monterrey, Calif.
A born salesman, Frank soon found his calling in a new and uncharted field, automotive air conditioning. As a true "pioneer" of the industry, he introduced this novel concept all over the world. His passion took him from the Far East and Australia to Europe and Central America, loving every new experience.
In 1979, he moved his family to Fort Worth, becoming president of Frigette Corporation. Frank became executive director of the International Mobile Air Conditioning Association (IMACA) in 1987. His dedication to this non-profit organization has provided funds to schools and technical centers to further educate and promote the growth and expansion of automotive air conditioning.
Our gratitude goes to Steve Cook and Senior Care Choices with special thanks to Texas Hospice. The family extends loving appreciation to our "red headed angel," Kay, and special nurses, Barbara and Sarita.
"A Grandfather is someone with Silver in his hair and Gold in his heart. We will miss you, Ace."
SURVIVORS: In addition to his wife of 59 years, Jo, Ace is survived by his son, Mark and his wife, Allison, of Myrtle Beach, S.C.; daughter, Trisha and her husband, Jack Chapin, of Fort Worth; granddaughters, Sarah Beth Allison and Vanessa Keen and her husband, Adam; grandsons, Cameron, Parker and Casey Chapin; and numerous family and friends all over the world.
