George Caldwell, a well-known colored citizen of the town, died this morning at Arden, where he was taken about two weeks ago. He was about 72 years of age and was the last of his family. A sister, Mrs, Robert Byrd, died December 27, 1925, at Portland, Oregon, and David and James Caldwell, brothers, died April and May, respectively, in 1925.
George followed the white-washing business for many years.
Funeral services will be held Friday at 3 p. m., standard time, at the Payne A. M. E. church. Interment will be in the church cemetery.
